Goodwe Energy Storage Inverters#

This section of the documentation is dedicated to the instructions on how to integrate the Sunergy SlimmeRik with Goodwe Energy Storage Inverters.

Warning

This manual provides instructions for integrating the Sunergy SlimmeRik. For detailed hardware instructions, see the individual battery and inverter manuals of the manufacturers.

1. Modbus Support#

The Goodwe Energy Storage Inverters have support for Modbus RTU using the RS485 port on the older type of inverters and also support using the proprietary connector on newer models.

Important

SFTP cable have to be used for this connection


1.1 Install the RS485 connector on inverter#


1.1.1 Goodwe Proprietary Connector#

Newer models of Goodwe Inverters utilize the proprietary connector.

Important

Both the Orange & White + Green & White cables have to be used for RS485 A ( + ) and both Orange + Green cables have to be used for RS485 B ( - )

This connector has 18 pins in total. See the table below specifying the function of the pins.

Connection to the inverter can be made using the diagram below after the individual RS485 wires have been connected to the connector.

1.1.2 Goodwe RJ45 EMS Connector#

Older versions of the Goodwe inverters use a standard RJ45 connector to connect the RS485 cables to the inverter. The table below specifies the pinout for connection to the RS485 Dongle.

This connects to the RS485 port on the inverter as shown below.

1.1.3 Goodwe COM2 type connector#

Goodwe models like the ES G2 have a COM2 port that can be used for RS485 communication. The pinout for this connector is shown below.

Warning

For a proper connection to the SlimmeRik with this type of connector ONLY crimp wires 1 (Orange & White) and 2 (Orange) on the RJ45 connector. Wires 3 til 8 should NOT be crimped. This applies to both the inverter side and SlimmeRik side. See also Gw_black_dongle

1.2 Install the RS485 on the Sunergy SlimmeRik#

1.2.1 Sunergy USB to Female RJ45 (black dongle)#

The female RJ45 socket has the following pin out. This is the standard colour and arrangement of ethernet (Cat6) RJ45 cables.

Below is a representation of the male RJ45 that needs to be crimped for connection to the black dongle from Sunergy.

Important

Both the Orange & White + Green & White cables have to be used for RS485 A ( + ) and both Orange + Green cables have to be used for RS485 B ( - )

The USB can be inserted into any USB port on the Sunergy SlimmeRik.


1.2.2 Sunergy USB to RS485 Screw Terminals#

The USB dongle has two screw terminals (green)

Important

The USB can be inserted into any USB port on the Sunergy SlimmeRik.


2. Goodwe Smart Meter installation#

The Goodwe Inverters come with a Smartmeter to measure grid power. In the event that a GM1000D Smartmeter is supplied with Retrofit inverters, there is a second current transformer (CT) that should be installed on the output (AC) of the PV inverter. See the figure below.

Important

It is important to note the AC connection on the GM1000D where the L1 and L2 needs to be connected to Live.

If the GM1000D is installed with CT2 connected to the output of the PV inverter, InverterPVRetro should be selected in the Device Details under Retrofit PV Measurement.
